WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish and U.S. officials signed an agreement Wednesday in Warsaw for the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant, part of an effort by the Central European nation to move away from polluting fossil fuels.Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called the deal to build the plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in the Pomerania region near the Baltic Sea the beginning of a new chapter for Poland, and described nuclear energy as a stable and clean energy source.Last year, Morawiecki’s government announced that it had chosen the U.S. as its partner for the project, which will be based in the Pomerania province near the Baltic Sea coast. A consortium made up of Westinghouse and Bechtel signed the agreement with the Polish state-owned company overseeing the nuclear program, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ).Poland is planning to spend $40 billion to build two nuclear power plants with three reactors each, the last one to be launched in 2043. The deal...Seeing emergency lights at Centennial Airport? Here's why

DENVER (KDVR) — If you live or work by Centennial Airport, you may notice emergency lights and sirens on Wednesday. But don't worry, it's just a test. The Centennial Airport said it is conducting an emergency exercise along with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office and South Metro Fire Rescue. The crews will be conducting the exercise on airport property, so there may be an increased emergency response. But the airport said there is no need for concern and to not call 911 if you see the lights. Boulder, you can help choose the city’s new LED streetlights The Centennial Airport is located at 7565 S. Miami Gardens Police responded to a department store after an apparent murder-suicide, Tuesday night. The incident occurred at approximately 9:47 p.m. when initial reports indicated that a male suspect shot the store manager inside the Big Lots store at 5580 NW 167th St. Police said a Hispanic adult male entered the store and targeted a Hispanic female inside the store before stepping outside and turning the weapon on himself. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced them both dead at the scene. Javier Rosello, an eyewitness to the events, recounted the chilling scene. “I see him dropping to the floor, but I thought someone had killed him, but it’s not. The result is he killed himself and he killed someone in there,” he said. He added that police arrived around 20 minutes after the shootings, as several employees remained inside the store, grappling with the terrifying ordeal. “All the ladies at the registers, they are with the police, they are terrified … so ...Arrest made in the case of Crystal Rogers, 8 years after Kentucky mom vanished

(CNN) — The boyfriend of Crystal Rogers, a Kentucky mother who vanished in 2015, has been arrested in connection with her disappearance, the FBI’s office in Louisville said in a statement Wednesday.FBI agents and the Kentucky State Police arrested Brooks Houck “on charges stemming” from the Rogers investigation, according to the statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. The statement did not detail the nature of the allegations against Houck and the indictment remains sealed, with more details to be revealed during Houck’s expected arraignment in early October.Rogers, a mother of five, was last seen or heard from on July 3, 2015, according to an FBI missing person poster. Her mother reported Rogers missing two days later, and her car – a red Chevrolet Impala – was found abandoned with a flat tire in Bardstown, some 40 miles southeast of Louisville. Her keys, phone and purse were inside.Houck and Rogers “had a stressed relationship at times,” Houck told HLN in 2015, ...US Sen. Bob Menendez pleads not guilty to pocketing bribes in a wide-ranging corruption case

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to federal charges accusing him of pocketing bribes of cash and gold bars in exchange for wielding his political influence to secretly advance Egyptian interests and do favors for local businessmen.Menendez made his initial court appearance in Manhattan’s federal court days after prosecutors unsealed an indictment alleging vast corruption by the Democrat, who was forced to step down as chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee after being indicted. A lawyer entered the not guilty plea on his behalf.A defiant Menendez has said allegations that he abused his power to line his pockets are baseless. He has said he is confident he will be exonerated and has no intention of leaving the Senate.Still, calls for Menendez to resign continued to mount on Wednesday with Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Senate Democrat, saying “he should step down.” More than half of Senate Democrats have n...Dolphins set numerous records in their blowout win over Broncos but miss out on a few more

The records kept getting set almost as fast as the Miami Dolphins scored last week against the Denver Broncos. The first team ever with 10 touchdowns from scrimmage, the first to gain at least 350 yards through the air and on the ground, a record-tying two players with four touchdowns. The Dolphins fell short of a few other notable marks in the 70-20 victory thanks in part to mercy by the coaching staff and a statistical quirk. With a chance to become the first team since 1966 to top the 70-point mark in a game, coach Mike McDaniel had Mike White take a knee on fourth down from the Denver 27 with 33 seconds left. That’s in stark contrast to the decision Washington coach Otto Graham made the last time a team scored 70 points in a game.Graham sent out kicker Charlie Gogolak for a 29-yard field goal in the closing seconds of a 72-41 win over the Giants on Nov. 27, 1966. Had McDaniel done the same, the Dolphins could have set the mark for points in a regular-season game. The overall re...Ex-Patriots captain: Mac Jones must stop getting involved in dirty incidents
